The Vulnerability of Christians.

Galatians 1

Introduction:

It is really amazing that New Testament Christians have such a big problem will departing from the simple truths in Gods word.
This only proves the “weakness” of man and how easily he or she is influence by the world around us.
God took great time through the writings of Paul to warn, correct and comdemn New Testament Christians for this very problem.
Why are we so vulnerable?

Lesson:

1.DEFINITION OF TERMS.

VULNERABILITY” =

PERVERT” = Galatians 1.7
Word means to corrupt or to change.
Word “corrupt”
2.Corinthians 2.17 Many corrupt the word of God.

REMOVED” = Galatians 1.6
Word means: to transfer, transport, exchange, change sides, remove or turn.
Note what they were transport from to to!
A true danger for us ALL!

DISSIMULATION” = Galatians 2.13
Word means = deceit, hypocrisy, condemnation.
Brethren can be guilty of deceit and hypocrisy and thus in such state we are comdemned. Thus the seriousness of this is brought to reality

BEWITCH” = Galatians 3.1
Word “deceive”:
Matthew 24.4-5 Take heed that not man deceive you, many come saying I am
Christ and many will be deceived.
Matthew 23.11/24 False prophets = deceive many./ Deceive the elect.
Mark 13.5-6 Take heed lest anyone deceive you.
Romans 16.18 Fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
1.Corinthians 3.18 Let not man deceive himself.
Ephesians 4.14 Cunning craftiness where by they lie in wait to deceive.
Ephesians 5.6 Let no man deceive you with vain words.
2.Thessalonians 2.3 Let not man deceive you by any means.
1.John 1.8 If we say we have not sin we deceive ourselves.

Word “seduce”

Matthew 25.2-3, 8 The five foolish virgins.
Romans 1.21 Peoples foolish hearts were darkened

deceived….

2.WHO MAY DO THIS TO US?
+ APOSTLES Galatians 1.8 = A connection to us.
+ ANGELS from Heaven Galatians 1.8 = Connected religiously.
+ FALSE BRETHREN. Galatians 2.4 = Our closest ones!

Example given:
PETER = Galatians 2.9-14
+ Peter he was to blame.
+ James came and Peter altered his behaviour (Gal. 2.12).
+ Barnabas carried away with their dissumlation.

3.THE POSSIBILITY FOR US.
We need to be aware of the fact that if our Galatian brethren had this problem that we can as well. Christians have no guarantee of their faithfulness and loyality to God.
There are many many warning in the New Testament of departing from the faith, loosing ones faith or leaving truth.

Other scriptures:
Luke 8.13 For a while believe . time of temptation fall away.
1.Timothy 3.6 Pride…fall into the the condemnation of the devil.
1.Timothy 6.9 The Rich= fall into temptation and a snare… drown men in
destruction and perdition.
Hebrews 4.11 Labour to enter into rest, lest any man fall after the same
example of unbelief.
Hebrews 6.6 IF they shall fall away…..
James 5.12 Lest you fall into condemnation.
2.Peter. 3.17 Beware lest you be led away with the error of the wicked, fall
from your own stedfastness.

4. HOW TO AVOID THIS?
The important thing for us to consider is how can we avoid that our Galatian brethren “fell” to? We do not want this to happen so what can I do/we do so it will not happen.

2.Peter 1.10 Make your calling and election sure!
There is something I must do!
Notice verses 4-9

1.Corinthians 10.11-12 Take heed lest you fall!
A watchful eye!

2.John 9-10 Stay active within the doctrine of Christ.
Abide in the doctrine of Christ = hath fellowship with the father and the son.
